SERAC Kicks off 1st Annual ALLI Fun Run

On May 3, 2015 about 140 runners and walkers came out for the First Annual ALLI Fun Run / Walk at Dodd Stadium in Norwich.   All proceeds from the event will go to support the Adolescent Learning and Leadership Institute (ALLI), a regional leadership program for high school youth in Southeastern Connecticut organized and sponsored by Southeastern Regional Action Council (SERAC).

SERAC is a regional, community based, non-profit agency working to raise awareness, provide education, prevention and advocacy to youth, families and the entire community in order to reduce the impact of addiction and related risky behaviors

ALLI’s mission is to empower young minds, educate them on contemporary issues and engage them in leadership opportunities in their communities.  The ALLI Fun Run was conceived of, planned and organized by the 69 high school students currently participating in ALLI.  Youth members are students from the following schools: Norwich Free Academy, Waterford High School, Montville High School, Ledyard High School, Griswold High School, Stonington High School and Wheeler High School.

The beautiful spring day provided the perfect backdrop for this family-friendly event, filled with activities for young children, challenges and obstacles, and fun color splashes.  It was an extremely successful day that highlights the many young adults right here in Southeastern CT who are making positive choices every day and planning for bright healthy futures.

SERAC would like to thank Dodd Stadium and the Connecticut Tigers for the use of their facility for this event.  The support from the Connecticut Tigers truly ensured an exciting event for everyone and we look forward to partnering again in the future.
